LAKOS SUB-K SUBMERSIBLE PUMP PROTECTION SEPARATORS

Centrifugal-style filtration for protecting domestic & private well water pumps from excessive sand abrasion.

Designed to remove troublesome sand from well water before that water enters the pump, this popular method of Lakos filtration simply helps eliminate excessive pump repairs and replacements. They're easy to install (see diagrams below) ... they're trouble‑free, requiring no routine maintenance ... and they really work. Like all Lakos Sand Separators, the SUB‑K Series features no moving parts to wear out, no screens or cartridges to clean or replace and need never be removed from service, capable of continuous operation for years. Made almost entirely of plastic to resist corrosion, the SUB‑K Separator is installed directly into the well, centrifugally removing abrasive sand and discharging the water to the pump.

When sand is a problem in your pumping system, Lakos can make a big difference:

  • Eliminates excessive wear to a pump's impellers and bearings. Saves money on repairs and replacements.
  • Helps maintain a pump's efficiency and saves money by saving electricity.
  • Protects washing machines, dishwashers, hot water heaters, icemakers, valves and landscape sprinklers from troublesome sand abrasion and fouling.

Capable of chewing up both plastic and steel impellers, the effects of abrasive sand are inevitable.

LAKOS - IL-B/S In-Line Separator
Effective solids-from liquids filtration equipment for applications with low flow rates.

Ideally suited for small system applications, side‑stream installations and individual equipment protection, Lakos In‑Line Separators are the popular choice for removing sand, grit and other fine solids from source or process water/liquid systems, removing 98% of such particles 200 mesh (74 microns) and larger. With heavier solids (metal chips, lead, etc.), expect even better results. Its unique centrifugal style of filtration is not only efficient, but also trouble‑free, boasting these standard features:

  • No moving parts to wear out ‑ This eliminates mechanical failures and troublesome replacement parts.
  • No screens, cartridges, cones or filter elements to clean or replace ‑ Saves labor, reduces downtime and eliminates the ordering and stocking of spare parts.
  • No backflushing ‑ Minimizes water/ liquid loss.
  • No downtime requirements ‑ All units are designed to operate continuously with no routine shutdowns for cleaning or maintenance. Purging of separated solids may be performed during full operation with no loss of performance.
  • Low pressure loss ‑ Consistent with the system's flow rate, Lakos Separators typically require no more than 5‑15 psi (35‑105 kPa) for effective solids removal without troublesome pressure fluctuations.
  • Available in two standard materials of construction ‑ Lakos In‑Line Separators are available in either Carbon Steel (IL‑B Series) or Stainless Steel (IL‑S Series). Each has distinct qualities with regard to corrosion, pressure and cost.

Operation

Lakos Steel In‑Line Separators are designed specifically to remove solids from liquids. Each model is calculated for use within a prescribed flow range or maximum performance and solids removal. Flow rates above or below the recommended range may affect such performance.

Upon tangential entry, the liquid/solids are drawn through internal tangential slots and accelerated into the separation chamber, where solids heavier than the carrying liquid are centrifugally separated and allowed to accumulate in the unit's collection chamber for eventual purging. The liquid (free of separable solids) is then drawn to the vortex and up through the separator's outlet.

Maintenance/ Purging

  • Lakos In‑Line Separators must be purged regularly. Otherwise, he accumulation of separated solids will overfill the separator's collection chamber, substantially affecting performance.
  • Several purging options are available and all may be performed while Lakos Separators are in full operation.
Manual: A full‑port, straight‑through valve may be installed on the standard purge opening and operated manually as necessary to purge separated solids.
Automatic: Several Lakos systems are available to insure maintenance free operation. Ask your Lakos representative for details and assistance.
Continuous Bleed: A manual pinch valve is most effective, left partially open at all times to control the rate of urged solids. Periodic inspection of
the valve is recommended to avoid plugging of the reduced bleed orifice.
  • All purge hardware should be installed prior to any elbows or turns in the purge piping (see diagram above). Avoid "uphill" purging which can clog piping and hinder effective solids evacuation.
  • For best results, actual purging is recommended while Lakos Separators are in operation. To determine the necessary frequency, purge often at first and calculate the proper rate necessary to prevent overfilling the separator's collection chamber,
  • When operating in sub‑freezing temperatures, be sure to protect the Separator's collection chamber and all purge line piping from freezing.

RAINBIRD - SELF-CLEANING PUMP SUCTION SCREEN

Keep Debris Out of Your Pumping System

No matter the source of your irrigation water, you need to clear the water of trash and debris that could block flow, damage the pump station or clog irrigation equipment.

Rain Bird's galvanized, Self‑Cleaning Pump Suction Screen removes trash and debris from water sources, saving time and money in energy, pumping efficiency and maintenance costs. With a heavy 10‑mesh stainless steel screen, this model will increase your pump efficiency for many years to come.

The pump suction screen is attached to the end of the pump suction line. All water must pass through the screen before entering the pump intake pipe. A small, side‑stream pump discharge return line drives two spray bars that continually rotate, jetting water at the screen and blasting debris away.

Made to last, Rain Bird's Self‑Cleaning Pump Suction Screen’s all‑metal construction has a removable screen drum. There are no exterior moving parts that can break down or need repair. The unit is completely corrosion resistant and will not collapse under normal operation.

For added flexibility, Rain Bird's Self‑Cleaning Pump Suction Screen can be installed at any angle without affecting operation. It also has a standard flanged connection (other connections are available upon request). The included "Y Strainer" ‑essential on the water jet supply line ‑provides easy access for cleaning and prevents the spray nozzles from plugging.

Rain Bird's Self-Cleaning Pump Suction Screen is built for years of trouble-free service.
